Extraordinary speaker on Comedy
On 27 Jamuary, John Marshall presented with tales of his life and career as a comedian, semi successful writer and highly successful and honoured comedy impresario and agent.
John decided to set up a Comedy Club in Manchester where he employed young comics including:
Steve Coogan. Lee Evans. Jo Brand. Harry Hill. Jason Manford. Dave Spikey. John Bishop. Alan Carr and Caroline Aherne.
John’s main claims to fame is that he gave Peter Kay his first ever paid performance on stage in a Manchester pub and that he was awarded the Les Dawson Award for Services to Comedy by the great Les himself.
He has now moved to Hornsea where he set up the Laughing Gull Comedy Club at The Floral Hall.

Rotary New Year Hike
On the morning of 5 Jaunary, the Rotary Club of Hornsea & East Riding held its 21st annual hike.
The six mile circular route from Densholme Care Farm at Great Hatfield was attended by about 50 participants.
The hike was finished with bacon sandwiches, homemade soup, scones and hot drinks.This fun event was made possible by a good team of Rotarians and organised by Paul Train..

UK 'Lockdown' announced on 20 March 2020
Prime Minister Boris Johnson orders all cafes, pubs and restaurants to close from the evening of 20 March, except for take-away food, to tackle COVID-19. All the UK's nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres are told to close "as soon as they reasonably can"[BBC]

Rotary Club president handover for 2020-21
On 29 June, the Rotary Club of Hornsea & East Riding held its presidential handover at the Wrygarth Inn car park and saw Graham McDonald PHF becoming the new Club’s President for the coming year, attended by members with social distancing due to Covid-19 restriction rules.
Dave Lee thank all the Club Council and members' support during his year as President. It will definitely be a year to remember!

Rotarian John Gosnold PHF
Rotarian John Gosnold, passed away peacefully on 18th November 2020, aged 78 years. Former consultant in Hull Royal Infirmary's accident and emergency department for 26 years until his retirement in 2001
