RYLA students experiences 2025
2025 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards course (RYLA) at Hebden Royd in August
On the night of 29th September, our three students Katy, Jacinta and Freya gave excellent presentations on their experiences at RYLA camp. Participants took part in camps, workshops, or seminars focused on leadership, teamwork, community service, and personal growth
Will Compston, the head of Hornsea sixth form, also attended the Meeting to support the students. It was well attended by 28 Members and Guests
Rotarian John Balshaw gave the Vote of Thanks, There was a sponsorship of one of the Hornsea places in memory of the late PP Keith Twigg B.E.M

Last night of the Proms 27 September
An annual event of "Last Night of the Proms" took place at the Floral Hall on Saturday, 27th September.
It was well attended and everyone enjoyed the night with music provided by the Humberside Police Concert Band conducted by Mr Brent Read. Soprano soloist Janet Bates sang "Climb every mountain" and 'Extracts from Wicked' and the Hornsea Floral Hall was packed with revellers on the night who all had a wonderful time!
The event also included the Drum Display by the HPB Corps followed by Piper Danny Fleming KPM who played the 79th Farewell to Gibraltar

Visitors at the July Monday meeting
Five members of the Rotary Club of Holderness joined us at the Club's meeting and a Quiz session organised by President Peter Chicken at Hornsea Golf Club. It was a pleasure to meet the visitors and found to be most cordial, informal and helpful occasion

Rebecca Hiscott gave a highly interesting talk on China and Chinese society to Rotarian members and guests. The vote of thanks was delivered by Rotarian Jack Johnston.

On 16th June, Rotarian Ian Jarvis spoke about the timeline founding years of the Rotary and to the many challenges which need to be addressed by R.I.B.I.
Inter alia, an ageing membership, about the modern technologies chosen to be used by younger people for fundraising, and the public image of Rotary
As we look into the future, we continue to build on the Rotary's core value that create more lasting positive changes to our communities

Inspired by the 80th anniversary of D Day, Keith gave an informative and humorous talk on 2nd June with the aid projection of illustrations from cigarette cards that were printed as propaganda and information during second World War

Shelter Box 25th anniversary "Tea in a Tent"
The Rotary Club of Hornsea & East Riding participated with Rotary Clubs of Holderness and Hull Paragon at the Humber bridge Country Park, Hessle on 18th May for 'Tea in a Tent' All donations went to fund the Shelter Box.
The District Shelter Box co-ordinator Rotarian Stephen Woodcock came to set up a tent commemorating its 25th Anniversary
AmAM golf
The Golf AMAM had raised.£2,400 for Rotary Club of Holderness and our club.The raffle had been a huge success as well.

Fourth year of the East Riding Rally Stages
The East Riding Stages Rally returns for its fourth year on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, bringing high-speed action to the country lanes of East Yorkshire, rganised by Beverley & District Motor Club.
The event was attended by President-elect Peter Chicken and PP Tony Chapell, in which PPs Ian Jarvis as driver and Paul Train as co-driver had competed. The rally car was a blue Mitsubishi Evo 9 - car number 42
